The EARA-EADP-SRA Summer School

Call for Applications: 2026 EADP-EARA-SRA Summer School

In 2026, the European Association for Developmental Psychology (EADP), the European Association for Research on Adolescence (EARA) and the Society for Research on Adolescence (SRA) will again jointly organize a summer school focusing on research on adolescence. The summer school is a training ground for young scholars interested in adolescent development. The summer school brings together established researchers, recognized for their expertise and teaching abilities with doctoral students from around the globe, for several intensive days of research training. The training includes exposure to innovative and creative research, as well as workshops focusing on professional skills. Previous summer schools have given students enthusiasm to search for scientific guidance outside of the borders of their countries and the walls of their universities.

The 2026 EADP-EARA-SRA Summer School will be held in The Netherlands from August 14 to August 18 (just before the EARA conference, submission deadline January 31, see: https://eara2026.sites.uu.nl/), with arrival on August 14. The site for the school will be 50|50 Hotel Belmont, located in the national park “De Veluwe”. The summer school will be directed by Beata Krzywosz-Rynkiewicz, Susan Branje, and Lisa Kiang. Senior Scholars participating this year will include: Eddie Brummelman, Hanna Christiansen, John Jamir Benzon Aruta, Zena Mello, Laura Wray- Lake, and Michela Zambelli as school methodologist.

We invite doctoral students in any part of the world to apply. A total of 24 students (8 per association) will be selected based on their academic records, research experience, letter of recommendation, and overall evidence of scientific aptitude and competence. Students who apply should have their doctoral research planned or underway, but not completed, so that they can benefit from the critiques given during the school. Students will have to cover their own travel costs, while accommodation from August 14 to August 18 (4 nights) and meals are paid for by the summer school. Students selected by SRA (whose travel costs are expected to be substantially higher) will be eligible for an SRA travel fellowship.

The junior and senior scholars brought a rich diversity of perspectives and experiences from numerous countries (e.g., China, Germany, Italy, India, The Netherlands, UK, US).

In the next paragraphs, more information is presented about the senior scholars’ insightful presentations on their influential research, the professional round tables designed to promote juniors’ career development, and junior scholars’ presentations on their research projects. Informal and fun activities, such as building connections over meals and exploring the beautiful Lithuanian landscape, were a cornerstone of the week, providing a foundation for lasting professional collaborations. The value of these informal bonds was immediately apparent, as they seamlessly carried over into the following week, enriching the experience for those who also attended the EADP conference in Vilnius, Lithuania.
