Call for Nominations: Serve on the SRA Board of Directors

Nominations are now open for leadership positions on the Society for Research on Adolescence (SRA) Board of Directors.

SRA’s board plays a vital role in shaping the future of the organization, advancing high-quality research on adolescence, and ensuring that the Society reflects the diversity of its members and the young people they study. We invite you to nominate yourself or a colleague for one of the open positions listed below.

Open Board Positions

Nominations are being accepted for the following roles:

  • President-Elect

  • Directors of the Board

  • Emerging Scholar Representative


President-Elect

The President-Elect is a key leadership role in SRA’s governance and future planning.

Duties of the President-Elect include:

  • Assisting the President and performing the duties of the President when that officer is absent or unable to act.

  • Serving as a member of the Program Committee for the SRA Biennial Meeting that will be held in the year their presidency begins.

  • Overseeing the use of SRA funds in alignment with SRA’s mission and priorities.

This position is ideal for a senior scholar with a strong record of service to SRA and a commitment to advancing the field of adolescent research globally.


Directors of the Board

Directors of the Board help guide the strategic direction and overall governance of SRA.

Directors:

  • Participate in board meetings and help shape SRA’s policies, priorities, and strategic initiatives.

  • Provide input on programs, membership, meetings, and committees.

  • Serve as ambassadors for SRA within their institutions, disciplines, and regions.

This role is well-suited for mid- to senior-career scholars who are eager to support the Society’s growth and impact.


Emerging Scholar Representative

The Emerging Scholar Representative ensures that the perspectives and needs of early-career members are heard at the highest levels of SRA leadership.

This representative:

  • Serves as a voting member of the Board of Directors.

  • Brings forward issues, ideas, and opportunities relevant to graduate students, postdocs, and early-career scholars.

  • Helps shape programs and initiatives that support the next generation of scholars.

This role is ideal for an early-career researcher who is actively engaged in SRA and passionate about building inclusive, supportive professional communities.


Who Should Be Nominated?

We encourage nominations of individuals who:

  • Are committed to SRA’s mission and the advancement of research on adolescence.

  • Value diversity, equity, inclusion, and global perspectives.

  • Have demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and service within SRA or related professional communities.

Self-nominations and nominations of colleagues are both welcome.


How to Submit a Nomination

To submit a nomination, please prepare the following (as applicable to each position):

  • Nominee information: Name, affiliation, and contact details

  • Position(s) for which they are being nominated

  • Current CV

  • Brief statement of interest (e.g., 1–2 pages) describing the nominee’s qualifications, leadership experience, and vision for serving on the SRA Board

  • Optional letters of support (if required or encouraged by the specific call)
