Meet the New in Science Associate Editors

Margarita Azmitia, Ph.D. grew up in Guatemala.  She is a Professor of Psychology at UC-Santa Cruz. Her research, teaching, and service address the social and cultural contexts of development. She is pursuing three lines of research: (1) the contribution of adolescents’ friendships and peer acceptance to cognition and self-esteem; (2) the roles of family, peers, schools, community, and media in diverse students’ academic achievement career goals, identity development, well-being; and (3) the role of collaboration in the development of scientific understanding.
