SRA Stands Together Against Violence and Discrimination

By: Stephen Russell, John Schulenberg, and Lisa Crockett

By: Stephen Russell, John Schulenberg, and Lisa Crockett

We join with SRA members in being shocked and saddened by the Orlando shooting. On behalf of SRA, we send our condolences to the families and communities of those who were killed and the dozens injured: Most were LGBTQ; most were Latino; and most were youth or young adults. SRA is committed to research as a foundation for raising teens and for informing educational and community programs, practices and policies that shape the lives of youth. As researchers working to understand and improve the lives of adolescents and young adults, we know that discrimination and violence undermine young people and their healthy development. With so many other individuals and organizations around the world, we stand together in supporting the Orlando victims and their friends and families, and in fierce opposition to violence and discrimination against the LGBTQ and Latino communities.
