SOME CURRENT PROJECTS

Continuity of the Student Representative Position

The SRA Bylaws were changed to increase continuity and productivity of the student representative position. Student representatives will be elected to serve four-year terms, with the first half of their tenure being spent in an alternate role (i.e., “learning the ropes”), and the second half being spent in a mentor role (i.e., “teaching the ropes” to the newly elected student representative). While there will continue to be two student representatives at all times, they will serve overlapping (instead of simultaneous) terms, thereby improving their ability to contribute effectively to the Executive Council and serve the needs of SRA’s student members.

Collaboration with the European Association for Research on Adolescence

SRA is continuing to develop partnerships and forge collaborations with the European Association for Research on Adolescence (EARA). Note that EARA has generously extended their Student Rate to SRA Students. Details about EARA's students may be found at: http://www.psy.kuleuven.ac.be/cdp/eara.

In 2006, EARA and SRA Student Representatives met in Antalya, Turkey for the 10th EARA meeting including Olga Solomontos-Kountouri, Samantha Dockray, Tulin Sener, Zena Mello, and Peter Titzmann.

Students share their experiences from the 2008 EARA-SRA Summer School in Torino! [more]

Student-Based Activities

In response to your reactions and feedback about the SRA Conference, we are working to promote a range of valuable student-based activities at upcoming conferences. These efforts include a modified Special Student Poster Symposium, which will be held in its own room and Student-Focused Professional Development Workshops focusing on funding for pre- and post-doctoral students and providing information on the process of publishing.
