PAST STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES
Zena R. Mello, SRA Student Representative, 2004-2008
Zena recently received a Ph.D. in Human Development & Family Studies from The Pennsylvania State University, where she also received a M.S. in 2000. She received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1994. Zena’s graduate training has included extensive research experience involving quantitative and qualitative research projects, teaching undergraduate courses, and volunteering at a runaway and homeless shelter. Next, Zena will begin a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley in the Graduate School of Education in Fall 2005. Zena’s research focuses on the time perspective and educational/occupational attainment of ethnic minority and low-socioeconomic status adolescents. She will be developing a measure of adolescent time perspective and will be examining adolescents’ attitude and orientation toward the past, present, and future, adolescents’ educational and occupational goals, and adolescents’ perceptions of opportunities and barriers to future schooling and work.
