The 14th biennial SRA meeting in Vancouver, Canada is quickly approaching.  Plan ahead to optimize your conference experience!

Submit to the Student Poster Award Competition. The deadline is February 8, 2012, and posters can be submitted by email to emergingscholars@s-r-a.org. More information can be found here. It is the first time we are giving student poster awards, and this competition will recognize high quality and innovative research from students.

Catch the Early Bird Conference Registration Rate. The deadline to get the discounted rate is February 17th. Register now if you haven’t already!

Reserve Your Room (they are going fast!). Discounted room rates are available for students but are selling out quickly (and may even be gone already). Reserve your room at one of the conference hotels and be in a prime location to enjoy the conference and beautiful harbor views.

Find a Roommate. Save money by finding someone to share your room.  The SRA Facebook page is the perfect place to post your roommate announcements.

Create Your Personal Itinerary. You can make an itinerary through the online program link. Creating a personalized conference schedule may be especially  useful this year because the program book will be online only.

Plan to Attend Emerging Scholar Events. We have multiple events tailored to emerging scholars. These include panels on diverse career paths, publishing and funding; and professional development conversations with other scholars. Details about these events can be found on our website or in the online program by searching for “emerging scholars”. Students and new professionals are also encouraged to attend the Emerging Scholars Community Meeting (2pm Thursday March 8), our welcome social event (6pm Wednesday March 7), and an informational event about the EARA/SRA Summer School (7:30am Friday March 9).

Of course, there are many other exciting events that you don’t want to miss! In particular, check out the invited events in the conference program.

P.S. Don’t forget to make sure your passport is current!
